SUPER spoiler! Book 2 - The Girl who Played with Fire.

So I love reading about Salanders new life, and all the wonderful things she can buy herself.  Isn't it funny that even with $3 billion kronor, she finds herself shopping for furniture at IKEA? She is really an amazing character, I think so far I have enjoyed the second book more than the first - it has been action packed since page 1. How is everyone feeling?

P.S. The lawyer is plotting revenge...we all knew it would happen.

  2. I am with you Nelis - I knew he would plot revenge - but it gets good! I am almost half way into the book - so I dont want to ruin anything since I dont know if you just started -

I like how they never found out she took the money - I guess since the guy ended up dying no one would ever figure out that he did not take the money out and that in fact it was stolen - also, did they ever talk about how he died? did he kill himself or was he murdered? I just thought of that as I wrote this message ....

  3. I thought he was murdered by some South American in Miami who he had sketchy dealings with... am I imagining a dream or did that happen? LOL i think they addressed it at some point.

I am about 1/6 a way into the book - have been dedicating time to reading instead of responsibilities... due to this fact, my kitchen has once again gone to shit. LOL.

  4. LOL - Yeah well I need to read tonight - last night I fell asleep - for some reason I did not rest this weekend, therefore yesterday was not a good night for me. I did nothing and just passed out when I got home - which is not good for my reading or home responsabilities!

But where I left off the book is getting super duper good!!!!! ;)

  5. Oh - and what is everyone thinking regarding how the second book started??? who was the 13 year old girl and the abductor? could this be Salander when she was 13 or her sister - and that be what they call "all the evil" that happend during those years for them?

  6. This whole time I was under the impression that that was Salander, however, I'm not sure if it relates to the ""all the evil".. But now that you mention it, it must be.. I know that her guardian Bjurman was able to get his hands on the copy of the report (even though it was super confidential), but they never said what it contained.. Hmm... I wonder when they are going to reveal that part of her past.. *continues reading!!*

  7. Oh lord - I just got to where the mystery starts! Now my mind is on overdrive - Yanelis stop reading now just in case -------------The two writers have been killed! I wonder what does Salander know about Zala - that she went to go visit them! .... and now they turn up dead - I dont think it is Salander - but still who could it be that also has a connection to her! must keep reading now!

  8. i just got to the part that norma spoiled earlier... the funniest is that i know exactly what you mean by "when the mystery starts". the author is so obvious about it - "so now we will start an investigation into their deaths." lol

  9. I know!!! I think that whole section - the section in the book where the murder starts is highlighted by the formula it chooses to mention before the part starts - so you know its going to be absurd and a formula without a solution - then you start into the investigation part - i am in the part after that - and it gets better because the book goes back into Salander's perspective - and until then she had been missing - I really dont know what to think - i have yet to figure out who the murderer was - and I am not too certain that Salander had nothing to do with it......

  10. Me either - obviously not of the two authors, but i can totally see her murduring the lawyer. Maybe they happened simultanously - but for totally different reasons. Well we know there is a connection - biker dudes were hired to hurt salander by lawyer, biker dudes were also involved in the trafficking of prostitutes.

Something that has really been striking is how much I hate Faste - he is such a woman hater, and i think he is implicated in the book somehow. I also think that the lawyer was Zala for some reason, but that seems to obvious...so many thoughts! So i definitely think that the central theme of BOTH books so far has been men that hate women and the awful things they do to express that. Makes me wonder what went on in the authors life that these types of crimes are his main focus!

  11. Funny that you mention that Nelis, I actually read somewhere that the original Swedish title for this book was "Men Who Hate Women," which if you ask me suits this story very well!! Ever since the first book, violence against women is the main aspect...

As for the story, have any of you girlies gotten to the part where they explain what "All The Evil" was?!!? My mouth dropped to the floor when I read that part! I just couldn't believe it!!! It was unimaginable to me that the goverment could be so corrupt, how naive of me, huh?! LOL!!!

Bueno, chop chop ladies, finish the book by tommorrow already so we can all talk about it!! Haha!

  12. Mabel - see you have to go ahead and make that point on sunday about the "Men Who Hate Women" and yet Blomkvist is in the middle of all this sleeping with all of them! Yet relationships are not the forte of the books - as you can see all the settled relationships are not mentioned, and the ones that are mentiond are not normal - like steven would allow me to sleep with antoher man because I just had a larger sexual appetite - dont think so! haha....

Def. a good topic for discussion! :)

I love the book club! haha
